Recently I haven't been able to download .exe files on my computer. I think it is to do with admin access. I am the admin of my laptop and I am the only one who uses this machine. I have found I cannot get updates from microsoft. At first I thought it was because they are not updating xp anymore but the error is due to an admin error saying I am not the admin of this machine. I think this has something to do with why I cannot download .exe files. The error I get when I use Firefox is
'C:Documents and SettingsSoggyDesktopExample.exe could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.
Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location.'
When this error came up I thought it was a folder issue and went about changing location and everything else I could think of but nothing worked. I then went to internet explorer to see if it was a specific browser issue but still the same. When I tried to run the download I got an error saying cannot download to this speific path, I don't have the right user access, which again leads me to believe its an admin error. I have fiddled with the admin setting with no result. I downloaded HiJackThis and logged it with no result so don't know what else could be wrong.
Could it be a registry issue?
