• If you're looking to run the game on the latest build of Windows 10, I've got the solution (after spending hours trying to figure it out). The main issue is that you cannot access Games for Windows Live through Viva Pinata if it's the only Games for Windows Live game installed.
• Ok, so the game itself deserves a 5. Just a blanket statement, I've been playing the various forms of Viva Pinata since I first got an X-Box 360 (When was that, 2006 or something crazy?) I have loved this game for that long, but didn't own the PC version until recently.
• Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise - Nintendo DS. Video Game Domestic Shipping. Although i had to download a certain software for it to work on my windows 10 computer.

The pinnacle of humanity's greatest creations. Putting men on the moon was a lackluster attempt at showing what humanity is capable of compared to this game. Simply put, if you want to end war, disease, starvation, or evil all together, put this game in ever last human being's hands right now.

Microsoft has officially ceased selling Viva Piñata for PC, it's 2018 and there is still no support for this aging game. No hint at a sequel. No reliable means to play the game on PC legitimately. In part thanks to the community here on /r/VivaPinata, I created this thread to help others assemble the proper files and get Viva Piñata up and running on PC. Viva Piñata is no longer available digitally by Microsoft and the only copies leftover are physical.

Software:

• Games For Windows Live Client (A discontinued game client, similar to Steam)

• Viva Piñata Installation Files

Operating System: Windows XP SP2, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, or 10.

RAM: 1GB or more.

Hard Disk: 10GB of free space.

Graphics Card(GPU): Varies, most graphics cards should work.

Processor(CPU): Any modern processor with at least 1.8GHz.

DirectX: v9.0c

Peripherals:

• DVD-ROM if using Viva Piñata official disk.

• Mouse and keyboard.

This method is the safest and most recommended method. As you are getting the official files that are least likely to be tampered.

Step 1. Buy a copy from Amazon.com or Ebay.com. Don't worry, those are not affiliate links.

Step 2.A. Download Games For Windows Live client at Xbox.com, go down to the section that says

Where it says 'click here'. Click it.

Step 2.B: If for some reason Microsoft removes the above download link. I will upload the Games For Windows Live client installer. Download from a list of hosts below:

With this method you take the risk of malware using CD cracks. Since the game is no longer supported I have no qualms with using this method. You may choose to do so.

Step 3. Use the links above and download Games For Windows Live client.

Step 4. Install and Enjoy!

Issue #1: 'You do not have an active gamer profile' error message while in game.

Solution: There's a link labeled 'create a local profile' that will create an offline profile. See here.

Issue #2: Installer won't run or freezes.

If you are a newbie and want to use virtualization software for Windows 10 then you can use Parallels Desktop. The software comes with a user-friendly interface which makes it easy for the newbies to use.Using the latest version of Parallels desktop you will be able to run Windows 8 on your Mac system or Mac OS on your windows machine. Best windows virtualization software.

Solution: Some users report this issue. It seems downloading from an unofficial source may be the cause. Try to re-download the game from a different source or use an official copy.

Issue #3: I can't save!

Solution: You need an offline account in order to save. See Issue #1 above.

So turns out we're a surprisingly teeny community, and even more surprisingly those who are looking to play the game on PC are not particularly tech-saavy. If you're looking to run the game on the latest build of Windows 10, I've got the solution (after spending hours trying to figure it out).

The main issue is that you cannot access Games for Windows Live through Viva Pinata if it's the only Games for Windows Live game installed. What you need, and what every online forum post will tell you, is the Games for Windows Live Marketplace client in order to play it.

What the websites DO NOT tell you is that you need to find the increasingly more elusive most recent version of the GFWL Marketplace (at least you do when running the game on the newest build of Windows 10). Microsoft used to host it on their website (which is what most websites link to) however it now redirects to a generic GFWL support page as opposed to a download. You can find many download websites online where it can be found, however most are not the most updated version (version 3.5.95.0). YOU NEED THIS VERSION IN ORDER TO GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY. Any other version will give you a 'connection error' message with the newest version of Windows 10 for whatever reason. I found my download at https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Games_for_Windows_-_LIVE but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere.

Once you download that, install it (before or after Viva Pinata) and be sure the program is running when you run the game next. It should open the Games for Windows Live hud, and you should be set to go once you log in/create an offline login!
